The Port Moody Foundation understands and is deeply committed to our unique and treasured Port Moody community, which helps us support and connect people who live here.
We contribute time and provide financial support and awareness-raising to local charitable organizations that are active in our key focus areas: arts and culture, heritage, environment, sports and recreation or improving lives for local residents.
We also create closer connections within our community face-to-face and online through community Facebook pages, topic specific groups like PoMo Doggies, PoMo Foodies, and PoMo
As well, we host the “hello PoMo" program which encourages residents to say “hi" and connect with each other and welcome new residents.
Founded in 1989, the Port Moody Foundation holds a trust of invested donor funds. The income from these funds is returned to the Port Moody community through grants. In addition to the satisfaction of giving back to their community, donors often realize tax advantages.
The Foundation is administered by a volunteer Board comprised of highly engaged, experienced, and compassionate Port Moody residents. All donations go to the endowment rather than administration or expenses. Funds are professionally managed by the Vancouver Foundation whose assets exceed $1 billion.
1. To promote and encourage endeavours in the fields of arts and culture, heritage, ecology, sports and recreation and social betterment primarily to benefit those living within the City of Port Moody.
2. To support, develop and enhance parks, cultural, recreational and community facilities in the City of Port Moody.
3. Promote capital projects in the City of Port Moody for cultural, recreational and community activities.
A community foundation is a collection of separate funds established by local citizens and held, in perpetuity, to enhance the quality of life in their community. It is a public charity, registered with Canada Revenue Agency, which allows individuals, families, businesses, private foundations and non-profit organizations through gifts and bequests, to establish permanent endowments under the umbrella of one community foundation.
Income from these funds can help the community respond to issues and concerns, as well as the needs and opportunities of the future. Â You can establish your own fund or give a donation to one of our existing funds.
Many options are available to give to the Port Moody Foundation, whether giving now or through a planned gift in the future.
Income from the endowments is used to fund grants to local charitable causes that benefit the citizens of Port Moody in perpetuity.
Because of compounding interest, your every dollar donated will have a lasting impact in Port Moody through annual grants.

Vancouver Foundation focuses energy on priority issues identified through community dialogues, independent research, donor relationships, charities and other organizations. We work in collaboration with community partners to set meaningful goals and plan our actions to achieve them.
Your Community Makes You. You Make Your Community. is our movement’s first national awareness campaign designed as part of our Smart & Caring Communities outreach to remind Canadians about the important role that our communities play in our lives and the contribution we in turn make to our communities.
The campaign celebrates local champions and leaders from communities across the country who are part of the 191 community foundations of Canada, profiling them, and the strength and reach of our network, through a series of TV, radio, print, billboard and digital ads.
#YouMakeYourCommunity galvanized support from more than 400 local and national media outlet partners across Canada who contributed their time and media space to introduce tens of millions of Canadians to community foundations and help make our campaign a resounding success.
Port Moody Foundation was established in 1989 by a group of caring citizens and generous donors who envisioned a Foundation whose goal was to invest in projects and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Port Moody.
